The Himba People
The Himba – about 50,000 people – live in the Kunene region located in the north-west of Namibia.. For centuries, they have survived in the unforgiving environment and climate by finding ways to adapt to the challenges and even turn them to their advantage. Isolated in a hostile environment, they developed a distinct culture and modelled their society in a way that ensured survival. However, it remains to be seen whether this will also meet the substantially different challenges of modernity …
