Namibia – the Country
A country defined by vast, boundless expanses might seem monotonous at first. Yet, every place we visited revealed ist own distinct character.
The tranquil flow of the mighty Kunene— a green ribbon winding through the yellow-brown desert— is briefly interrupted by its spectacular falls, a natural barrier even for the numerous crocodiles that inhabit its waters. Even the seemingly lifeless, desolate Skeleton Coast has a unique allure, shaped by its eerie atmosphere, muted tones, and stark contrasts.
However, what captivates me most are the rocks we encountered throughout the country. Polished by the ever-present sand into smooth, rounded forms, they stand as solitary monuments or merge into larger formations, sometimes creating surreal, geometrically sculpted mountains. Their beauty is amplified by the distinctive light of the land, casting them in a mesmerizing glow.
Adding to this striking landscape are lone bushes, each leading its own ‚miserable‘ existence on itsm own hard-won mini-island of fertility in a concrete-like environment. A testament to the survival of the fittest.
In the short time we’ve been traveling, we have fallen under the spell of Namibia – its magic forging a deep and lasting connection.
