Namibia – Remarkables

Boundless Land – Maximum Loneliness

A tiny Himba settlement at the foot of a hill, connected only by the traces of our vehicle.

Our place for the night – hardly to locate in this vast landscape.

Directions

Once our next waypoint according to the map was ‘Red Drum’. A town, or village, restaurant or petrol station? No – it was what it said: a red drum… Later, when we were supposed to get to green drum, we knew what to expect.

Roads

Many roads are like an infinite line from here to beyond the horizon. Some are tarred, but most just gravel, producing lots of sand. And some are not be done for the fainthearted … very demanding even for a suited 4×4.

Viewpoint

At the end of the day we decided to climb a hill to get the best view of the Kunene falls. The result was this unexpected view.

Just Another Skeleton

Driving the skeleton coast means travelling empty space. To our surprise we found this tiny sign pointing towards a massive structure – too much temptation not to take pictures.
